Best Time to Travel I-5 and I-210 in CALIF

Howdy, first thanks everyone for all of your posts you have made my life less stressful, you great.

My question: Going to travel From three Rivers, CA to Yucaipa, CA after seeing Sequoia and Kings National Parks. Will be traveling the I-5 south and I-210 East on a Thursday in late April, what do believe is the best time(s) to travel during daylight to avoid traffic. Thanks in advance, I will post my experience when we get back.

There is no good time to travel those freeways during daylight hours. It's hit and miss regarding traffic. But since you're traveling on a Thursday, go as early in the day as you can.

It's about 3-4 hours from Three Rivers to the I-210. You should make decent time until you pass through Valencia on the Grapevine. But once you start heading down towards LA, that's when the traffic can heat up. And driving through Pasadena can be just as bad as driving through the heart of LA and Orange County, just not as long.

Just remember that when you're pulling a TT or driving a MH, take your time and always give the 18 wheelers the right of way.

I used to live in Redlands and drove a semi on those freeways for 30 years. To answer your question there is really no time when you won't be in heavy traffic. Needless to say rush hours are the worst, which begins around 5 am and runs until around 9, then begins around 3 and goes to about 7pm. Those are the official bumper to bumper times. The rest of the day is a very busy as well, but usually moving. Listen to KNX on 1070am for traffic reports every 10 minutes, or keep checking Google maps. Best thing to do if towing is to get in the slow lane and stay there. Vehicles with trailers are restricted to the 2 right lanes. Good luck.....

Thanks you both for your prompt replies. I am a native Californian but avoid LA area because of the traffic so I was hoping for a miracle answer, LOL. Your replies unfortunately are what I expected. Thanks again for your replies.
