Bittersweet trip

Our oldest graduated from Kindergarten this afternoon. We had planned to go camping this weekend to celebrate. It was also going to be the first trip for our third born, who came into this world on 5/21. Unfortunately, our baby boy left us at only 8 days old, on 5/29, due to currently unknown causes. We were struggling with whether or not to still go. It's been an emotional day and I am tearing up typing this. Long story short, we decided to go ahead with the trip as we didn't want the oldest to be disappointed. We packed up at 5:30, and I am sitting in the grocery parking lot waiting on the wife to get a few things. Hoping to make the best of the weekend, and needed to share, thank you for reading.

Sorry for your loss, I would be devastated, but I think you made the right decision, nothing can replace your loss, but you must continue to live, good luck and I wish you a relaxing weekend away to process your thoughts, prayers with you and your family!

Praying that this will be a positive experience and the beginning of healing for you and the family.

You are going thru what none of ever want and I hope it strengthens you.

My wife and I are tearing up also as we read this. Praying for you and the family.

I’m deeply sorry. I know those words are inadequate, but I am truly sorry for what you’re experiencing right now. I can only just begin to imagine what you’re going through and how difficult all this must be for you. Our youngest grandson, born in early May, gave us a scare the day after he was born; thankfully everything turned out fine. Then our year-old granddaughter needed to be transported to emergency rooms twice later in May.

Those situations made us appreciate even more the recent, first overnight camping trip with our oldest grandson. We had a wonderful time that I'm sure the three of us will cherish for years to come.

You are a very strong man! Much stronger than I. I can sympathize with you, as we almost lost our youngest to Type 1 Diabetes last year. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family...Please take this time you have this weekend to enjoy one another.

I'm sorry for your loss. My youngest (21 years old) was killed in a car wreck in early April. It's a life changing experience. You are in my prayers.

My condolences to you as well on your loss. It is most definitely a life changing experience. We have a 7 yr old and a 3 year old so plenty of goings on in our household, but it feels empty all at the same time. It's a very odd feeling at home and we only had Gunner there for a few days.

I think we did make the right call on making the trip. The kids have been happily playing all morning. I also slept decent last night for the first time this week. The change of scenery is going to do us all some good I think.

Thanks to you all for your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement.

Words can't express how I feel. No parent should ever have to go through such a tragic event. My heartfelt condolences to you, your wife, family and friends. May God hold your hearts and comfort you always.

My prayers are with you and your family. I am sure that years from now, you will look back on this trip as the weekend you began to heal. Perhaps you all can sit around the campfire one evening and have a private "celebration of life" ceremony. Although it was short, your baby brought much joy into your lives and his passing brought you all closer together, appreciating the love you have for each other. Peace be with you all.

Our thoughts are with you. I can't imagine how you and your family must feel right now, and I can't imagine the strength it takes to pull up the bootstraps and get going again. I know I would have a tough time.

Now I can't wait to get home to my little boy and give him a great big hug and hold him close. My heart breaks for you.

So sorry for your loss. There are no words that one can say that will help, but know there are people out here that will be praying for you and your family that God will see you through this and help heal your hearts. It's hard enough loosing an older family member but so difficult when it is an innocent little one. God Bless and be with you.
