Black A/C cover

What's up everyone.. I noticed all the newer travel trailers have the black AC covers. I was thinking of painting mine black since the white always seems to get dirty and the black looks newer and more modern. But I wonder about the black heating up hotter around the AC? I guess if it mattered they wouldn't be doing it right? Am I safe to paint it? Has anyone done it?

I’ve had both and both function just fine. I like the black better as well.

Thanks guys. You motivated me to do it LOL I have to swap out the motor as it's whistling so I have to take the cover off anyway might as well kill two birds with one stone!

I do a fair bit of painting plastics and fiberglass ( kayaks), the key is of course in the prep. The surface can't be glossy at all anywhere, I scuff it with a 400 grit wet or dry, then clean it with MEK or Acetone, brush or roll on ( or spray if you are so equipped) a quality bonding primer and then you can rattle can spray it with a light coat followed by one or two heavier. Pay attention to the recoat times on the paint can. There's a window, if you miss it you may have to wait a day or two for the next coat.

Thanks for the tips. I painted the propane cover and it's held up really well with Plasti dip. I sanded and cleaned really good with Dawn dish soap and then rubbing alcohol. I also have Plasti dip on the diffuser on my back bumper of my car for 7 years now.

Do the stock AC covers come gloss or more of a matte look? The Plasti dip is more of a satin matte look. Is not high gloss
