Black tank/sewer questions?

Took my Maiden Voyage trip with my 2010 Jay Feather. This is my first time with a travel trailer and my first time having a bathroom. Hooked up my brand new rhino hose. Dumped the black tank first then went in with the blaster wand to rinse out the toilet. Added more water in the black tank and dumped it again. Then dumped the gray water. Once I removed the connection from my trailer more water dumped from the hose....yuck. I feel like it took me so long to do this whole process. Can anyone offer tips on how to make this easier and more sanitary? lol I was mortified. ha ha ha

First of all wear disposable gloves. When you are ready to disconnect, shut ff the valves first, then disconnect the hose at the trailer and immediately lift it up so that you push any water remaining in the rhino hose toward the sewer. Work your way toward the sewer to insure all water gets out.

Oh believe me I had gloves on. I am going to get a face shield too. LOL If I could use a Hazmat suit I would!

If the sewer connection is right under the trailer pipe do I have to open the 15' hose completely or can I leave it short?

I've never used my 15' rhino hose to dump at a station. I can imagine it would be a pain.
I use the cheap sewer hose that came in the bumper of my trailer. Its much shorter and flexible and not expandable like the rhino hose.

You should be able to find one like it for little $.

I Think you will get better at it with practice.
No hazmat suit or face shield is necessary. Just throwaway gloves.
Nearly all of us dump our tanks as a matter of routine. It doesn't take all that long, and it really isn't messy. Done right, your gloves may not even get water or "stuff" on them (but toss them anyway!).

Almost always DW is with me and we make a great team. I hook up the wash out hose and she goes inside the TT and power wands the black tank after I have drained it. I utilize my rino hose all the time. I do not always expand it (in fact I rearely ever do. After the tank is drained and DW power wands it, i empty the grey tank. She comes out and disconnects the wand and by that time the grey tank is empty and then we disconnect the dump hose and use the regular hose to rinse out the rino hose (with it lifted in the air). We are able to do this without getting a drop of water anywhere on ourselves.
It will all come with time and practice. All in all its a speedy practice.

Where do you clean and store your wand? Where do you store your hose? I was unable to detach the rubber fitting that goes into the sewer hole from the rhino and I didn't dare yank on it and have it splash on me. ewwwwww lol

I clean my wand with the hose once its disconnected. I keep it in a small plastic bin I picked up from a wal mart. I am able to remove the sewer dump elbow, and the rino hose fits in my bumper. In fact both the cheap hose that camp from the dealer and the rino fit in the bumper, one on the sewer side and one on the other side.

ok I also bought the clear elbow for the trailer end. I guess I will have to remove both of those to store seperately. What a odor when I dumped it too.....yuck. Did not know what to expect my first time. I can imagine having to go to the dump station will be time consuming. Thankfully I had full hook ups. Do you leave the valve open when the wand is in the toilet cleaning or let the water build up them pull it?

Lukenick1, you sound like you have an aversion to dumping your black tank.
Either get over the "eeeewww" factor or have your camping partner do the job.
It isn't that bad of a task.
