Apologies for a lamer question - what is wrong with keeping the pipe in the bumper? I used the pipe only 4 times, but the bumper storage works just fine.

Mostly just that the Rhinoflex hoses barely fit in the bumper (if at all) especially with attachments, and not all TT's have the 4" square bumper. It is a LOT easier to slide the hose into a 5" square tube, and the
The OP actually has a little tiny storage area for the hose.

I was storing mine in the bumper and I've noticed some rust spot in the bumper. So now I have to sand the rust spots and hit it with some derusto.
