Bleaching lines question,

Just running some bleach through the water lines, is there a time line you should follow? i.e. 24 hrs - 48 hrs etc ?

Can you leave it in there for a week ? I'm just curious as to standard procedure.

Thanks for the help.

According to the Jayco manual, use 1/4 cup bleach per 15 gallon tank capacity and fill with water.(including hot water tank and all lines). Let sit for at least 4 hours. If in a hurry, it says you can double the bleach amount and let sit at least one hour. The entire step by step instructions should be in the manual under " Sanitizing the plumbing system"

FYI the longer you leave the bleach water in the water system the more bleach smell you will have after draining and rinsing the fresh water system.

Bleach is an antibacterial that will kill germs on contact in the proper concentration. The longer you allow the bleach to sit in the lines and tank, the more of the bleach scent will remain. Myself personally, I leave it in one hour and then flush the heck out of the system.

If you use your system all the time you should not have to sanitize after the start of the season. If your system sits week after week between trips I would resanitize it every couple of couple of months. If you ever have questionable water in the system sanitize as soon as possible.
