Blue-Ray Player

Hello guys, well I was going to get some DVD's for our trip that's coming up next week and I found that their are a lot of blue-ray dvd disks but no hardly regular disks so my question is how do you guys play your dvd?

Can I buy a blue-ray player and add it to my regular or do I need to buy one to replace my factory furrion player?

I also have mostly Blu-Ray these days. I have my player on a shelf with an HDMI cable plugged into the TV. The TV has audio out that goes into the factory player. So I switch the TV input to the Blu-Ray HDMI then pipe the sound out of the TV and into the factory player and RV speakers. You could also just play the audio through the TV

Can you check your TV and determine if it has an open HDMI connection? If it does, then you can just get a Blu-ray player and connect it to the TV. To use it you would go into the TV's menu and switch the input to that HDMI input. Now if the TV does not have another HDMI input my plan is kaput!

So much content is on Blu-ray today, it is a shame that new units don't come with Blu-ray players. I put them in mine, I even have a 12-volt one for my outside TV so the grandsons can watch their movies out there when it is appropriate! But they are done by supper so as not to enrage the neighbors listening to the Smurfs!

Sony make a compact model that I carry in my RV and I got a Yamaha sound bar for much improved sound.

I am sure that most Blu-ray players will play the old DVD's. That's what we plan to do. By then the next generation will be here if not already!

Yes, BluRay players are backward compatible. The next generation is 4K and has been around for a while. My take is why by disks when you can stream, although streaming 4K at most campgrounds is unlikely.

Every Blu-ray player I have owned is indeed backwards-compatible to DVDs.

Any "new" is here, I just got a 4K Blu-ray for home, wow does it bring out the detail on the big 4K TV playing the new Star Wars!

Check out Costco, Sam's or even Best Buy. We picked up an LG BlueRay player for $60. It has a 120VAC to 12VDC wall wart so we can use it on 12VDC direct when boondocking.
