Brake Controller

I just picked up a new GM 2500 Diesel AT4 and I love it! On my 1500 GMC I ran it at 6.0 and it was just right for my set up! Now with a much more heavy-duty truck I tried at 6.0 and I'm getting much more braking than I think I need plus I'm smelling a much more brake smell! I know the braking on this truck is heavier duty and most likely doesn't need to be set so high!
What's everyone else running at? My tailer is 30-foot TT about 7500lbs!
Thanks, in advance!
Rick

Rick, I think there is a procedure you would follow in the general instructions on how to set the brakes. Also, there are YouTube videos explaining the same. I don't think someone just giving you their number would be the right thing to do.

I have always set any brake controller by putting the truck in gear and pulling forward a few feet and pressing the test brake on the brake controller only (not the brakes on the truck). If the trailer brakes slowly stop the truck without locking up or grabbing hard that's where I leave it. Not sure how the newer trucks with digital set ups work though. For reference on my 2016 Ram 2500 I'm at 4 I believe for our 10,500 lb travel trailer.
