Brake controller

Which brake controller is everyone using? I have a Tekonsha p3. And have pulled with it for about a year now. And have never been able to lock up my camper wheels regardless of where I set the controller.

I have the P3 and love it. I can lock up the camper brakes fairly easily.

Why do you want to lock up the tires other than trashing them. If you follow the P3 instructions its a great controller. Most don't set the Boost and or Power setting correct. Take your TT to a large empty parking lot and play with the settings until you are comfy with the braking.

Make sure that all of your connections are good, including on your trailer. You should be able to make those brakes lock. I have the P3 on my Van and it is a nice controller. A little fancy for my taste, but good none the less.

I agree. Somethings not right.

Both campers I have pulled was brand new. Had the slx 212qbw last year. And now own a 2018 slx 245rls. Maybe the brakes just haven't had enough miles put on them .

Warm brakes up before trying to set it. One mine when cold it doesn’t want to lock up. Also was hard to tell when wheel are locked if you don’t see smoke from tires.

Nothing wrong with your controller. You don't want to lock the brakes. I had a P2 in my Tundra towing our 28BHBE and it would not lock up no matter what. Now I use the factory controller in my Ram with it set to heavy electric and max 10 and it still will not lock up the brakes. The idea is to get a steady controlled braking action from the trailer. You don't want it pushing you around. When you go to full manual control, you want it to slow you down but not lock the tires.
