Brand New and dealer action bothers me

I am brand new to RV world. Have Grandkids and felt lucky to find a "2017" Grayhawk with bunk beds at the dealer. Only 16,000 miles.

Problem is when I went to get the tag it is actually a 2016.

When I was looking at comps of course I was using 2017.

listed at 75k got for 69k seemed like an ok deal.

Should I be filing something with BBB or chalk it up to learning experience?

Your chassis is a 2016 and the coach is a 2017? I don't think it is uncommon at all. I'm assuming your state's DMV titles the vehicle by the chassis vin and not the date at which the coach was completed.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think it is anything uncommon.

It's common for a vehicle, RV, motorcycle, etc. to have a build date of the previous year. What it's registered as doesn't really matter, except for the retail, or trade in value when you go to sell, or trade it in. Most manufacturers start to build the next-year vehicles as early as May. Hope this helps.

Depends on what state you live in as to.how it's tagged. Some states use the yr as supplied by JAYCO for the house portion, others use the chassis yr. Chassis are sold as incomplete units and at times a 2017 house ends up on a 2016 chassis depending on when it was produced.

Frequently the incomplete chassis may be built in an earlier year with the vehicle completed by the final assembler (Jayco in this case) in another. I think some states treat the registration differently, some noting the year by the chassis date, some by the "final" completion date. My Seneca's chassis was built in 2013 but my Ohio title shows it as a 2014.

Is that what you are experiencing?

All of our motorhomes have been built on a chassis registered one year earlier. It doesn't change the fact that we own a specific year of motorhome. And they all depreciate at an alarming rate anyhow.

What we do is keep that in mind when buying chassis parts or looking for repair procedures.
