Cable Internet Question
Hey all, the snowbirds have left and we finally get a spot with cable hook up. We are not getting cable TV but are getting cable internet. My question is…we have 2 ports in our Eagle TT cable TV and satellite. Does it really matter which 1 I use to run the cable from the exterior box to our RV and then connect the modem to the corresponding connection inside behind the TV?

They seem to all be wired differently, try each one.
Is your over the air amplifier turned off, the little green light?
You won’t get cable tv if that’s on.

on mine, when i previously hooked up to cable internet, i used the TV port on the outside, connected the inside TV port (amplifier off on faceplate) and connected to the Cable modem. Most Cable companies offer a basic TV package free, so if you place a splitter after the inside TV faceplate, one to the cable modem and one to your TV input and perform the search for channels on your TV, you should get a bunch of Channels free with your internet service.
Good Luck.

I always connected to the cable TV, as this told me I'm using cable connections. The satellite connection I figured is if you have your own tripod and satellite, and required a contract with Dish or other satellite provider.

Well an issue arose. Our cable internet would work well then drop signal. Cable guy came out and everything up to the trailer is good. He thinks we have a bad splitter or cable. We had noticed previously with over the air our bedroom didn’t get a few channels that our living room TV got….any ideas or know where the splitters generally reside in the TT. 330 RSTS model is what I have.

I'd call Jayco support and ask them where they placed the splitter, unless someone here with your model knows.
On my class C (without the overhead bunk bed), its behind a velcro'd panel at that overhead.

A simple test is to install the modem direct to the cable and do a speed test (speedtest.net) and then do the same connected to the inside.
I used to install cable and found poorly made ends that did not all signal through, loose connections, corrosion, bad splitters, screws and nails running through the cable, etc.
Takes some time to figure it out. If a local cable guy comes into your RV and fixes it give him a nice tip as this is not his responsibility plus coffee and a donut!

For a reliable internet hookup, you really don't want any splitters, switches, or amplifiers in the line. For internet, I removed the OEM cable from the back of the Jayco ANT/CATV switch/amplifier and ran it directly to the internet modem/wifi box. I can always put it back to the switch/amplifier for normal CATV operation.
