Mine sounds like the same as your's. The emergency window obviously opens but the long vertical window doesn't open.

My family of four did a Alaska trip this summer from Michigan. Ninety percent of our lunches for 45 days were at roadside stops without the slide out. Naturally it was tighter, but very doable, even with our 90lb labrador inside with us. White Hawks rock!
