Campgrounds near Niagara Falls on the US side.

I’m hoping to take the wife and daughter to see the Niagara Falls in June but I haven’t had much luck finding a nice possibly fun for kids campground, the one I did fine you have to have a membership too. Has anyone made it out there and have some suggestions?

There's a KOA in Grand Island next to a amusement Park. Fairly close to NF.

A good friend likes to stay here Branches Of Niagara Campground & Resort - Grand Island Campgrounds | Good Sam Club although we've not been there ourselves yet. He speaks highly about them.

Four Mile Creek State Park. About 20 minutes from the Falls.

Great park and reasonable rates.

Got to ask, can't the kids enjoy themselves for a couple days without "fun stuff" at the campground? There is a state park maybe 10 miles from the N falls NP. It is right on the lake and you can see the lights on the Canadian side at night. Plenty of room to ride bikes or meet friends at nearby campsites.

Nothing wrong with going to private or KOA type CG's but I think it would surprise a lot of parents to find out that their kids can have a lot of fun without cheezy playgrounds.

Four Mile State Park and Golden Hills State park are just a few miles east of Niagara Falls right on the shore of Lake Ontario. You can see the shipping traffic go by and see the lights from Toronto at night. These campground have hook ups. Golden Hills has a light house with tours. We camped there last summer and we regularly saw eagles flying along the lake shore and deer wandering through the camp ground. There is also Fort Niagara State park that is interesting to visit.

Thank you for all of the great info! We usually stay in a state park and she enjoys riding her bike and playing on the trails so she’s easily entertained we were looking for somewhere with a pool since it will be middle of the summer. She’s a odd little girl and refuses to swim in a lake lol. I’ve narrowed it down to a few of the suggestions I’ve received from you all.

When you go, make sure you take your passports, because the best views of the falls is from the Canadian side.

Also when there, check out the Whirlpool Aero Car a few miles north of the falls on the Canadian side. And the Niagara Glen, north of the Whirlpool there's trails that lead into the gorge right down to the river.

On the US side near Four Mile Creak SP, there's Old Fort Niagara which is also interesting.

Of course when at the Falls there's the Maid of the Mist on both US & Canadian sites, Cave of The Winds etc.

There's a lot to do at the Falls and in the area around it.

FYI We've camped at the GI KOA, Branches, and 4 Mile Creak SP.
We camp at the Grand Island KOA all the time maybe 3-4 times a year because it's close to Son & daughter-in-law and in the fall for UB football games.
It's a nice campground, close to NF and personally I like the sites there better then Branches of Niagara. Camped at Branches of Niagara once never went back. Last I knew costs between Branches and KOA were about the same, both are expensive.
If you cost conscious and don't mind just electric sites, Four Mile Creek SP is the best place. Very nice, open large sites right on Lake Ontario but there's no pool.

Have fun, sounds like a great vacation.

This is a good place and unless things have changed, when you camp here your admission (parking) to the falls is included.

We stayed at Branches of Niagara campground with the kids 2 years ago for 4 days. It is a really nice campground on a man made pond. They have tons for kids to do. We really liked this campground and it is a pretty short drive over the bridge to Niagara Falls.

4 Mile Creek state park. Price is reasonable, book way ahead for weekends and holidays. It is a straight shot down a little used road and you get free (saves $10 a day) parking with your park receipt. A couple of nice towns with shops and restaurants near to the park. Swings and slides, etc. for kids. Lots of open space for balls, dogs and frisbees.

Fort Niagara, about 5 miles down the road from 4 Mile Creek SP has an Olympic size pool for you to use. Park entrance is free with your camping pass, and it's something like $1.25 per person to swim. You can enter as a non swimming guest into the pool area for free.

I know this thread is getting old but I highly recommend Branches of Niagra. We had a great experience at the campground. It’s also located between Niagra and Buffalo so you can split time between both. If you go to Buffalo, I recommend going to Anchor Bar for wings (their birthplace) and Schwabl’s for a Beef on Weck sandwich.

We decided on branches of Niagra because it has a lot of great reviews June can get here quick enough! They aren’t open all of the way yet so I’ve not been able to call them and find out if they are ok with us showing up around midnight.
