Camping discount programs?
Hi! Newbee question here....are the camping discount programs worth it? We were looking at one called Passport America and liked the discounts they offered, but there seemed to be a lot of “fine print” with some of the camp grounds. We were looking at KOA’s but they seemed really pricey.
Also, second question....our salesman thought he remembered Jayco offering one year Coachnet service for new buyers, but the Jayco website only mentioned motor homes, not TT. Any advice?

How did you know that it came with it? Did your dealer set it up or was it through Jayco?

I don’t remember exactly but was given the papers for it when I did the paperwork for the trailer . I than renewed it. I just bought a 5th wheel last week that did not come with coach net but some other company. I like the tow benefits that coach net and this one offers

Welcome to the forum.
Passport America (PA) is the one we've used frequently. IMO, there's not really a lot of fine print, but a few of things to keep in mind with them:
- The campgrounds (CG), are not usually top tier, destination campgrounds so read CG reviews.
- CG owners are trying to fill otherwise empty sites so the discounts are often for just a couple of days during the week, not holidays, not peak seasons, and not when there are local, special events.
- Call before you commit: We've encountered a couple of times where the owners said they weren't part of PA but they were listed online in the PA site.
Hope that helps a bit.

There was a Coach-net contact info sticker inside one of our kitchen cabinets. Our MH came with one year of their service.

Check your state parks for discounts.
Here in Florida, they give a generous discount for vets, military (maybe public safety?) and seniors.
We get 50% off camping fees, because I'm an old geezer :-)

Also COE parks. There is a federal discount card that you can purchase which gives you camping and sightseeing discounts at Federal facilities.
It's worth it.

We are PPA members and use it for overnights when traveling. They have a web site with all the info. It will save you the annual membership fee with the first 2-3 nights it's used.
PM me if interested, I can send a flyer. BTW, I have no interest in this company except I'm a fan!

I would LOVE a flyer. I am a complete newbee camper (although hubby says I am a glamper not a camper) and just trying to get ahead of the learning curve. The teacher in me demands that I read all the things about camping.
What is COE?

Discounts
You will need to be flexible and use multiple discount programs - Passport America and the Federal parks pass are 2 that we use every week - KOA is very pricey and we don’t need the pool, game room, miniature golf,or other entertainment options that they provide so we choose not to pay for them

I like KOA and it is the only one I have. I get it free with my Alstate towing insurance. You get a 10% discount and they have a points system for free nights. While KOAs may be pricey, most of them are nice places to stay. I have been to many non-KOA campgrounds that seemed like a deal until I pulled into the driveway.

X2 except I pay for my membership. Had a Good Sam but we like KOA better. Haven’t been to a KOA campground yet that wasn’t nice and that didn’t have great customer service whether I was staying 1 night or several nights.
