Camping World incompetent?

We recently spent a month in Florida. While there the base of the toilet broke where the bolt that holds it down come through.

Decided to go to Camping World in Fort Meyers and have them install a new toilet. We purchased the toilet and left the trailer to have it installed. A short while later I received a call and was informed that due to damage to the flange and black water tank, they could not install the toilet. A new tank would be required. Luckily we met some friends who let us stay with them while the repairs were to be made.

After several days with no action by CW, they said they could not get a reply from JAYCO as to then a tank could be delivered. We told them we would take the trailer as we needed to start home and asked if the toilet could be installed on the old flange. They said no.

We returned to Maine without a toilet in the trailer, making sure we camped near campground bathrooms. I took the trailer to my JAYCO dealer who tested the tank and said there was nothing wrong with the tank. There was a crack in the flange, but it could have been used by turning it and using different holes. My dealer had the new flange and toilet installed and tested within a couple of hours.

So was Camping World incompetent or were they trying to fleece us?

He knows my answer.
We are very fortunate to have a competent local dealer that we bought our RV from and take it into for maintenance. Call of the Wild in Oxford Maine
They adhere to the Maine credo "If it ain't broke, don't replace it"

I wouldn't take my RV to any Camping world facility for repairs.

Bridgeengrjim, just remove the question mark from the title of your thread and you have your answer.

Since I had a decent experience could it be safe to say that maybe the tech didn't know what he was doing? Or is it just more convenient to say the whole company doesn't know what they are doing.
What did Jayco tell you when you called to inquire on the status of the tank? Maybe they weren't goin to replace the tank because they knew better.

Still under warranty, JAYCO. Out of warranty, you.

And unless they've really changed things the flange is threaded onto the riser from the black tank.

Well the advice was from the service manager. We were not allowed to go to the trailer unescorted nor talk to the people on the job

I am the breaker of the toilet. A month out of warranty

basic story everywhere. Dealer is overwhelmed because the product is inferior, dealer is under staffed, poorly trained "technicians", uncaring manufactures...blah, blah! Its all about the money, bottomline, profit...etc!

Being 1600 miles from home I didn't care about warranty all we wanted was a functioning trailer. Figured a national chain should be able to install a toilet.

Our local dealer was able to accomplish in 2 hours what Camping World couldn't accomplish in 5 days.

A broken flange, which Kim admitted they broke, has nothing to do with the trailer or how it was made.

This type thread seems to bring out the worst cases whether its a company, manufacturer, or product.

You have to be able to read these without making a final judgement. Few people talk about good service unless asked to.

Venting is a way to take the heat off of the one who is suffering, it helps to talk about a bad experience. IMO very little is resolved thru complaints and vitriol.

Camping World incompetent?

Had a furnace malfunction in our Jayco 5th wheel in Georgia. I called a mobile RV tech. Jayco reimbursed us 100% after testing the defective component.
Their warranty people were great.
