Can I put a trailer hitch on a 2015 SLX 26bh

Hi

i want to and a 2" receiver hitch to my trailer for bikes & or a cargo rack. Has anyone done it? Any reasons for or against?

I assume you are talking about the rear bumper. If it is just a clamp on "NO"
A clamp on with a re-enforced tubular 2" frame across tied in the chassis with brackets "yes". I would recommend to let a welding shop do the fabricating and installing.

+1 on what ALJO said. If you do a bit of searching your you will find other posts on this subject. In short the bumper is not stout enough to support the weight.

I had a custom hitch shop fabricate a "frame to frame" mounted 2" receiver on both of my TT. I use the reciever to haul 4 bikes and occasionally a cargo tray.

I put a clamp on 2'' hitch the trailer bumper. For a cargo rack with some zero gravity chairs and portable waste tank. Nice combo, I know....

I think the clamp on hitch was rated for about 200lb static load. I figured if I could stand on the bumper, it would hold a a few chairs and such.

I used this a few times without any damage. The hitch mounted to trailer chassis is definitely a better way to go.

The problem isn't usual the weight it is the bouncing on the road. The bumper is only fasten with quick welds and the 4" square bumper tube is very thin.

Ditto! Pulled the TV+TT out of Camping World behind such a creature and on to a rutted freeway (far right lane, of course). Watching that bucking-bronco caused us to pass as soon as we could - didn't want to wait until it launched 4 bikes into our path! Bet there is some great U-Tube video demonstrating the significant bouncing that can occur.
