Can someone school me on heated underbelly/tanks

Just laying here in my first trip in our 2012 jayco Eagle 330 RLTS travel trailer. It’s saturday morning at the campground and is raining and has been since 10PM. The entire campground is asleep except me of course.

And I’m wondering.........how do I know if my underbelly of the trailer is heated? Do the tanks have heaters? Does it have the artic package??

Can someone help me out here? How do I know what I have? I know the underside is enclosed in a thick black plastic membrane of some sort. But besides that I’m clueless.

Just wondering because we love this thing so much that I could see us being in it well into the cold months!!!

My guess is that you don’t have heated tanks, but probably a heated underbelly. Easiest way to tell is to open up the basement when the furnace is running and see if it’s warm in there.

Our previous Eagle had a heat duct aimed at the back of the utility center to keep everything there warm, and I believe there may have been another duct somewhere in the underbelly, but I never opened it up to find out.

If you have heated tanks you will have switches at your main panel that will be labeled as such. You can also look behind the panel where the furnace and duct work is and you should see back wires coming up that will be plugged into an outlet(s). The tank heaters just plug in and the switches in the panel control the outlets.

Don't know your model, but the information is correct given by others. First, the tanks that are heated with "pads" are exposed to the outside and you can look at the tanks and see the pad with wires attached to the bottom of the tank (sides is your level indicators). There will be a switch somewhere to turn the heat on and off as they are heated with 12v electricity. In my 31DS motorhome the switches are in the bathroom beside the temp control for the tankless water heater.

If you have a "basement" design and the tanks are enclosed, I would not even be concerned as they are well protected from the outside air and while temps will drop below the house temp, it is doubtful they would freeze. Now your hoses (if attached) are a different matter. But also as noted, there is likely at least one furnace duct into the compartment.

Last year in Bryce Canyon our temps got into the teens at night. I just filled my fresh tank (for morning showers), disconnected the water hose and turned on the tank heaters. Never had a lick of trouble, but it did get into the 40's during the day which helped.

Tag next to the door says “glacier package”. Does that mean anything?

Also, no switches for heaters anywhere that I see.

Thanks

Check and see where your cold air return is located. We have the 2015 28.5 RLTS 5th wheel. In it, the furnace is under the kitchen cabinets. Cold air return is in the steps to the bedroom/bath area. Everything, except the 2 front storage bays, gets some heat. So far down to 10 degrees and no problem, except for a lot of propane used that night!
