Canada is so beautiful and cleaner I might add ( litter wise ), go back and enjoy that beautiful land and all it has to offer.
What he said...

Mere seconds/a minute figure out who is the good guy and who is not.
And then there is, 'When I ask a question, will I get a truthful answer?'

Once, DW and I were asked, 'Are you taking over (I think it was $2,500) into Canada.' We said 'Yes' (This was ~30+ years ago).

'Well, you'll have to park over there and take it inside to declare it.' Of course getting weird looks from the agents (these hippie kids with that much cash... must be for drugs!)

We walked in with our Travelers Checks and nearly got laughed out of there!

Well, a few years back I was on a SAR mission that went south. Couple crew died and my lower right leg was smashed to heck.

Had to be medevac'd. They put a titanium rod about 2 feet long in the leg and screwed the broken bones they found to the rod.

About 1 1/2 years later had to fly to the US with DW. They had the scanner thing you walked in. I did, and came out the other side. Noticed a flashing light and was instantly surrounded by both uniformed and plainclothes, well within my personal space.

After a few tense seconds and a pat down, we figured out it was the 'rod'. Turns out it looks much like a gun barrel on the machine.

Very happy they were very professional US agents. Feel safer flying after that example.

The border is the same both ways. We were asked once on our way down south, "where are you asking to go? ". That day the border guard really wanted to let us know that it was up to him if we were allowed to cross, he also expected an itemized list of all the food items in our trailer. Fortunately that was only that one time. Due to terrorism threats on both sides of the border, things are much tighter now than before

I have crossed from MN to Canada several times and have never had major issues. I have been asked a couple of times to pull to the side because they had a few extra questions. But as everyone has said, take your sun glasses off, be honest and you will not have any issues as long as you arent doing anything wrong, or acting suspicious.

... but that does NOT mean you won't be asked to pull to the side for a few more questions. Why? Who knows. Maybe their buddy at the side has nothing to do, or maybe you are vehicle #?, or ????

I'd hazard a guess that border agents and dentists are together near the bottom of the popularity list.

Now here come the flames from the dentists.

I think we all tense up at least a little bit when crossing the border, or sitting in that dentist chair.

Here's hoping your 'last' root canal was in fact your last root canal.

So far it's #3 in the last 30 years ( wish that was my age). To think I paid $1.000 to get hurt then another grand for the cap!
