Can't figure out how to manually light my furnace (2007 jayflight)

Hi everyone. Super happy to have just picked up a great condition 2007 jayflight. Everything works like a charm. The only thing I can't seem to get working is the furnace. When I turn the furnace on I hear the "click" but the furnace doesn't boot up and push hot air. Just nothing after the click. It worked okay before getting the hot water tank replaced, if I recall correctly. I have both shore power and solar, so power is not the issue. Stove and hot water work great.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to find how to manually start the furnace. I have removed the grates where I believe the furnace is but it's just a big metal box and I don't see any screws. Amy suggestions how to get in there and manually start the furnace?

Thanks so much

Welcome to Jayco Owner's Forum from New Hampshire.
Have you confirmed you have propane and the value is open?

Hi stan and Sharon. Thanks for responding. Propane is definitely okay, because hot water tank working great on propane and the stove/oven fires up no problem + fridge is running on propane. Safe to assume I think, that if all that is okay then propane is okay + valve is turned on. I also have 2 30lb tanks that were just filled.

Here is a link to do some deep searching in this forum: https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=015066...95:_douuy_o5dq

Try this... in the search box type: "furnace + jay flight" (no quotes)
Then scroll down below the ads that google inserts to see the forum listings.. there are a few.

Are you certain you need to light it? This is my third camper. I've had 2001 popup, 2013 travel trailer and now a new 5th wheel. None of these have needed me to manually light the furnace.
I would simply turn on the propane, set the thermostat to an appropriate temp then wait a few moments to hear the fan start up. Next thing I notice is the smell, but that goes away (or I get used to it) and the heat is felt.
What happens when you do this? Have you checked your fuses? Do you smell any propane around the furnace in/outside?

You can’t manually light the furnaces, it has been this way since way in the early 90’s or before, there is not a pilot light, the clicking you hear is the igniter, when it reaches temperature the thermostat shuts it off again, either you are not getting propane to the furnace, the igniter is not working properly, or there is no oxygen getting into the chamber.

Jayma doesn't mention whether the fan is running. It could be the sail switch is preventing the furnace from starting.

Also if the water heater replacement was recent, they should take it back to whoever did the work and get them to fix what they broke, assuming the furnace and water heater are close together in that model camper.

If you are hearing the clicking noise, your sail switch is working. These furnaces are notorious for the control board either getting wet or just not working. Sometimes a hair dryer will get it going by drying out the control board. I keep a spare one just for this. Easy change out.
