Carbon Monoxide Detector
Just wondering folks opinions on the following. We bought our used 2010 Jayco last summer and discovered this year that the carbon monoxide detector had expired before we bought the trailer. Should the dealer cover the cost to replace it since it expired before we bought it, or is it our job? It doesn't cost much, just wondering if we should push for them to replace it?

As long as it works, it will be in service in my rig.

Welcome to the forum! It's not necessarily the dealer's responsibility to refresh any of those appliances any more than a homeowner to install all new smoke detectors before selling his home.

Actually lived thru a CO incident while attending a race at Bristol Tn. About a million people running gens in a very tight pack of RV's. I had my h2000i cranking away but w/ windows open since it wouldn't power my AC. Anyway in the middle of the night the 1st nite, the alarm sounded waking us up but I was already feeling the effects. Had to close windows that were closest to the offending gens and reverse the fantastic fan on the roof vent to pull air in. The air up high was clear and I wasn't pulling the bad air from close to the ground. The next day I made a visit to Wally W and purchased a 2nd unit for back up. Didn't want to die because of a faulty detector.
Replace the old one. They're less than $20 and will absolutely save your life. You are most at risk if you're boondocking in a tight pack with gens running at night while you're sleeping.

I would not have been there to start with. Yo each his own. The one in my rig cost close to 75.

Welcome to the forum, I agree with the others about it being your responsibility. If you had identified before you took delivery you had a chance to get it replaced.
Happy camping and enjoy you trailer.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I just wanted to pass along my update. We did ask the dealer about replacing the expired detector and they did it at no charge. I guess it never hurts to ask and we have a good dealer
