Castaways O.C. Md

Welp, just got back from a nice long weekend at Castaways. Gotta say, I love this campground but they need to get ahold of the golf cart problem. Kids driving private carts and screaming down the aisles of the CG. Saturday night, I came close to being hit by one. Walked around my truck to get something out and was almost clipped! A bunch of young kids with music turned up to 10 passing another cart full of girls. He had to be doing 25mph in that thing. Also heard another camper about 10 sites from us had his truck scraped and dented on the driver side from one of these carts the night before. They really need to curb this type of behavior before someone gets hurt. Or worse! Just ranting...sorry.

We were at Frontier Town this past weekend and the issues were similar. Most were driven by adults and the speeds were reasonable. That said, I was almost clipped by a couple even at the lower speeds. One girl following the truck was texting and driving. The sheer volume of carts was amazing. Wait until someone gets seriously hurt and they'll either crack down or eliminate them.

We were there also this last week, the place was empty before the holiday weekend.

I agree though the golf carts cruising around are a bit crazy.

That`s one reason I prefer the State Parks, no golf carts. Very few carts at Fort Whaley also which is the much smaller sister of Frontier town, but there are a few.

We liked FT a lot - right on the water (crabbing and fishing) and absolutely no mosquitoes. Fort Whaley might be worth a look but I really like being on the water.

Yeah no waterfront at FW except for sites by a pond. A bit cheaper then FT but farther from OC. But its much less hectic and busy at FW then FT simply because there are so fewer sites there.

I am a fan of FW over FT because of the peace and quiet moreso than FT.. Its like the difference of living in the city and that of living in the suburbs!!!!

Agreed, FT is just too busy for me and the sites seem smaller.

That's why we don't go to Ocean Lakes anymore.

We stay at the NP. This year, there were few mosquitos. Of course, there are the roving bands of horses. We like the space, proximity to beach and the quiet evenings of the NP.

So far, for my family, Castaways was far and away the nicest place I've been yet.
