Central vacuum system

2019 Jayco North Point with central vacuum system; never used. Recently installed new batteries. Plugged into shore power and vacuum came on. Unable to turn off without disconnecting shore power. Vacuum door clossed and switch is off in storage area.

Ground issue or bad relay. Have you tried flipping the breaker?

Thanks for your suggestion. I turned breaker off just to turn unit off. Did not flip back to ON; will try that. I fail to find any mention of a relay in installation and operating manual.

I discovered the problem. There is a vacuum hose connection at the bottom of the stairs to the upper level of the trailer. Next to that is an air intake door (?) that also acts as a power switch. Opening the door starts the vacuum. The door had been placed in the open position prior to shore power connection, thus, when power was connected the vacuum came on. Closing the door solved the problem. duh

That door is there so you can sweep stuff in front of it then open up and away the stuff goes

I have heard many complaints about the central vacuums. Many are not fond of it and don't even use it. I used to be a selling point to the ladies.

Are any of you having good service out of the central vac?

My DW has been using it for the last 3 years. It is very powerful and reaches from one end of our 5er to the other. You can connect the hose directly to the vacuum unit in the basement and use it for multiple chores, like vacuuming out your TV or the basement itself. We would definitely miss it. For small chores she uses a cordless hand held vac.

We use are all the time and works great. Not had any issues with it so far. Use both the inside and outside (basement) connections.

My wife absolutely loves it (as much as one can love a vacuum ) and uses it frequently.
I've also used it, on occasion, in the basement. Have had 0 problems with it.
And, as others have already stated, the auto dustpan was the first thing that I thought of also.

We use ours all the time. Great suction and easy bag change.

Ours is the same but been using for 6 years. Only downside is that it doesn't have a rotary broom to brush the carpet and for that I use a dirt devil.
