Champion Generator for RV (Which one and why)

My goal is simply to run one of two air conditioners so I only need a 30 amp. Huge price difference so what is the benefit of the more expensive one?

Thank you very much in advance,

Champion Power Equipment 46539, 3500 Running Watts/4000 Starting Watts, Gas Powered Portable Generator, CARB Compliant

I think the first one is a repurposed construction generator. The second is new and I think Champion is trying to compete with Honda and others in the ultra quiet RV market.

Thanks Buddy; We have the exact same RV. Love ours.

$500.00 price difference is huge. Can I accomplish running a single A.C. on the Jayco Eagle HT 26.5 RLS with the cheaper one? If so, it will be on my property and I am not worried about noise

The second one is an inverter type which will be a lot quieter. You can get the 3100 model at Costco for $699 on sale and $799 regularly. We have it and it runs our 15,000 btu a/c no prob.

The 3100 Champion is a very good and reasonably quiet generator. Not quite as quiet as a Honda but close enough. As Buddyray said, the other generator is a contractor type meaning its substantially noisier then then the 3100 and it maintains high RPM regardless of load. The 3100 will handle one AC just fine with minimal noise. Clearly the better choice for camping!!

We ran our Champion 3100 at the same time next door to our friend's Honda 2000 and I could not tell the difference.

Compare the 3000 Honda to the 3100 Champion. I have both. Under load the 3000 Honda runs at lower RPM's then the 2000 Honda and is definitely quieter.

I have only heard of people pairing Honda 2000's. If I ever come across a Honda 3000 will do!

We have the Champion 4000/3500 generator with the remote start and it runs our 15K just fine. We use on our property also so a little noisier is not an issue. We picked ours up on a Black Friday deal at Cablea's for a just a few dollars less than on Amazon.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

Inverter type generator are much better overall, and in this case well worth the extra money. Inverters are much quieter, cleaner power and more fuel efficient.

IMO you should get the 2800/3100 inverter, but get it from Costco.

X2, you will be much happier in the long run with the lack of noise. You'll be able to use this at home and camping and not anger the neighbors at either location

The Inverter Type Generators are made to produce the 120VAC at 60Hz much better then non-inverter type generators do... They can do this at different speeds where the non-inverter types run full wide open all the time.
