Champion portable generator question

I was looking at this model from the Home Depot.

3,100-Watt Gasoline Powered Recoil Start Portable Inverter Generator-75531i - The Home Depot

But some reading lead me to what is supposed to be the same thing at Costco, only less expensive ( in fact on sale right now ).

http://www.costco.com/Champion-2%2c8...100139466.html

I ordered the Costco unit ( it has not shipped yet ). But now, looking closer at specs, the one from Costco seems to be a good bit larger ( which is a problem for me ).

Does anybody own either of these? And can you verify the dimensions?

Home Depot model says: L 22.4 W 17.3 H 18.3
Costco model says : L 29.9 W 27.2 H 25.2

Thanks,
Tuckerdog1

I think they are exactly the same except for color and the fact that the black one is being more honest in being labeled 2800 watts rather than the 3100 watts on the yellow one, which is only peak power.

Champion has started making models in black, they used to all be yellow. I don't think there is any difference between them whatsoever, they both state they are 84 pounds.

I think that Home Depot is giving you the measurements of the generator and that Costco is giving you the size of the box that the generator comes in. Note that the Costco measurements are 7 inches longer, 7 inches taller, and 10 inches wider. That sounds like the box measurement to me.

The champion website has several 2800/3100 inverter generators. They are all the same, different colors & model numbers depending on where sold. Everyone of them lists the 22x17x18 size. I think you will be OK

I think I read somewhere the difference is one has a 12v cigarette light type outlet and the other has a 12v plug for optional battery charger cables.

This is true. That is the only real difference.
