Check Your Safety Chains

Went to hook up my 24ft Jayco last night to bring it home to pack out. Noticed my safety chain final link at the tongue of the trailer had rusted through at the weld. See picture. Bought some stainless replacement links.

Good observation on your part. Thanks for pointing it out.

Good catch, but that was not rusted through, that was made manufacturing of the link. I'm not sure I would trust any of the other links on that chain.

Best regards Doug

I believe that link was the type that crimps together and then spot weld at the crimp. That type link was,and still may be used ,by a trailer rental company at one time.
