Choosing a TPMS for TT

I have read a few posts regarding TPMS's and it appears that TST and TireMinder top the list.

I would like a display that shows the pressure and temp for each tire like the TireMinder TM55c shown below, however it is clearly noted that this model is NOT for RV's, only cars / trucks / SUVs.

TM55c:

The TireMinder A1A that is designed for RV's appears to only show info for one tire at a time...

I also looked at the TST 507 as recommended in other posts and I can't see as where it displays all tires at once.

Any thoughts, suggestions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your replies!

I have not done the research that you have done. However, it looks to me like the Tireminder TM55C displays four tire positions and will work for trucks, so it must handle pressures of at least 80 PSI. Why couldn't it display your four trailer tires? Maybe the restriction is assuming you want to display the pressures of your tow and your trailer, making too many tires for the display to handle. So wouldn't it work to just display your trailer tires, if that is what you want to do?

By the way, the Tireminder website (clicky) says the TM55c can be used for trailers.

I have the TST and have been very happy with it. It doesn't show all tires at once, but cycles through each one fairly quickly so it's easy to keep an eye on them. IIRC, if there is an issue with a tire, the unit alarms and locks on to that tire so you don't have to fumble around trying to figure our which one the issue is with.

If you go with the TST you shouldn't need the repeater. I've used the system on both rigs without one and it's been fine.

My only regret is that I didn't go with the flow-through sensors. I haven't had to make many adjustments, but it would be a lot easier to pull a cap vs. the entire sensor.

RVhiker, My thoughts exactly! They also have a hard wired signal booster that can be used with the TM55. The TM55 also monitors the spare tire on the display. Thank you for pointing out the info from the Man'f website, not sure why other retailers are stating just the opposite.

I have been looking at some TPMS as well, and have come across a few on an auction site, but haven't seen any reviews of these anywhere yet (haven't searched to hard yet though). The link I have below looks to be decent, you could plug it in the TV only when trailer is on. I have a single axle pup so would only need 2. I would either have spares, or ideally I would put the 2 extra on my motorcycle. Not sure if that would work, only having 2 hooked up, or if it needs a signal from all 4 to work... On to researching, there are many more brands out there this one looks like if it can do what I want (trailer and motorcycle) I might get it.

In my mind, having all that info on one screen all the time is a distraction not a help. The page is too busy for my taste. I have the tire minder with booster. I go thru the screen when we leave every morning to let me know if tire pressures are where they should be and really don't want or need all of that info. every minute. If there is a change it will quickly tell you. That is what you really want to know. It's very easy to scroll thru at any time to check pressures and temps if you want it. What ever you get, make sure that it is compatible with a booster. I have found that to be essential. Other folks on this site say that they don't need a booster but I have found that the system is slow to update without it.

Looking more in depth at the TireMinder website, the TM55a and TM55b are not for RV's, however the TM55c does state that it can be used for trailers as RVhiker mentioned earlier.

From what I am gathering so far is that the TM55a is for use with Aluminum valve stems, the TM55b is for use with brass or steel valve stems. One part of their website says that the TM55c is Canadian Tire Customers.

Levinehikeski, the site recommends the TM55 for use with motorcycles. They also show a TM66 on a motorcycle.

It also looks like they are developing a system to be used with a smartphone app, looks pretty interesting. No need for yet another device on the dash!

I may hold out for this [emoji2]

Has anyone tried Tire Patrol yet? It's another unit that came out this year that is "smart" and functions with an app on phone.

I have not bought a TPMS system yet but wanted one that would do 10 or more tires.

4 for the TT and 6 for the TV. One for the spare would be nice but not essential.

Any owners that can answer that one?

Both TST and TireMinder have systems that can accommodate up to 22 sensors.

It also looks like the Tire Patrol that Bookemdanno provided the link to can support 10 tires.

As stated, the TST only scans thru the tires one at a time but instantly recognizes a alarm condition and locks on to that tire along with a audible. If you want to do it yourself, it won't be with a TST.

I have used it for 4 years and it is a must have on any trip I take.

I have purchased the TST510 with 10 sensors. It worked well for the most part, but every so often it would loose the signal from one of the rear RV sensors. Once that happened, the system would bee[p every few seconds. I would have to unplug it and then let it refind the sensors. I decided to purchase the booster antenna and it hasn't happened since.

On the other hand, I've had two blown tires on my previous RV (see my post related to blowmax tires on my previous RV) and the alarm signaled immediately and saved me a lot of structural damage. I wouldn't be without one in any future RV purchase.

I installed a Tst 507 while I was in Arizona this winter with a repeater mounted under the front of the fifth wheel solid signal all the way home to Michigan

I should also have mentioned, the 36 RSQS has a 12v outlet in the bedroom above the dresser. I just added a 12v plug to the antenna. No need to permanently mount the antenna anywhere. Just plug it in and toss it onto the bed before traveling.
