Chunk of metal in grey/black tank

I went to drain my tanks today and I picked up the hose and I heard something rattling inside. And I keep caps on them so no way for anything to get in there after draining last time. I dumped it out and it was a big chunk of metal. Weird.

That is very weird. I can't even guess what it is, by looking at it. You're lucky it came out on it's own. Have you owned it since new?

Almost looks like a piece of toilet flange, but why would it be metal and not plastic? Seen cast iron in residential but not RV. May look down the toilet and see if that is it.

I've had our toilet out for a ball seal replacement, and our flange is ABS plastic. The only metal I remember were the flange bolts to hold the toilet to the floor.

Maybe a Jayco Special Poop Tool the fellow building your TT accidentally dropped down the hole!

No I bought a used 1 previous owner. I've had it for about a year. Only thing I can guess he's somehow it fell in the tank during Manufacturing? No idea. I did notice a few times when I was flushing the gray tank the flow wasn't coming out good. Hopefully that was why..The last few times that came pouring out nice.

It does sound like that's what caused the restriction. Thank goodness it didn't get caught in the valve and do damage when you closed it. Great find.

X2, It is common for people who boondock a lot to pour there dishwater down the toilet, to save grey water space. Might have been some kitchen item. If you really want to know, I think you have to get the crude off of it.

That was the biggest problem with the Ronco Turd-o-matic…the blade kept coming loose.

I had a similar experience, but what came out was a large drill bit. I'm the original owner. Don't think it was something I ate. So yeah, they do drop things in there during construction and don't fish them back out.

I have also read of the plug cut out for the drain valve being left in the tank to give owners a fit down the road.

I sometimes feel like I've "passed" something like that....
