Clarion Removal

Any idea how to removed the clarion double DIN radio? The one in our 2015 Precept shut down frequently with any bump. I had hoped to remove it while still abroad and see what is loose. Most radios (like the Sony outside) have little thin metal clips to slide in the bracket to release the unit. The manual does very little to explain and I don't find any such tools. Thanks as always!

Does the unit have two small holes on either side of the faceplate?

He's telling me that Clarions are pretty much the same idea as the Sony. But Clarion makes their own removal keys. The release is located midway down (where the knob is) on either side. Same principal as the Sony..metal tabs.

OK thanks, TWP723. Is there a special key or should the sony shims work? Will try again in the AM.

Turns out that you just have to remove the 4 screws that hold the faux wood trim on. Then that whole piece detaches. Lots of crazy wiring behind there. Now I have to track down the clarion wiring to figure out the rest!

AugerN...........word of caution. Sometime back, someone removed their radio and managed to DISCONNECT a hose that had to do with the dash AC, thereby disabling the AC operation. A thread on the issue is on the Precept Owners Group.
