With today's finishes, a catalyzed lacquer typically, you just need a cleaner that will leave no residue. The finishes are hard, and do not allow moisture, oil, etc to penetrate. Any residue will just lay on the surface and collect dirt. Guardsmen makes a good cleaner you mix with water and wipe down the cabinets. It does a good job of cutting grease etc. It's what we gave with each job we did when I had my cabinet shop.
Normal lacquer which is used on furniture, is soft (easy to repair is why they use it) but allows moisture to penetrate. It's why you get a cloudy finish when a glass sweats on it. Once the moisture dissipates the finish will be almost clear again. A catalyzed finish eliminates the moisture issue.
When touring the factory and speaking with the cabinet shop folks, I was told catalyzed lacquer was used. Not the best product but a very good product which is easily cleaned.
