Dang, you're smart, AND talented too! Whoda' known!

Question, what do you use for the silver paint? I have an old Sears catalytic heater, and would like to repaint the snuffer dome.

Murff I have a question as well. What do you use to remove the rust on the exterior parts of the burner tube, burners, etc. Thanks.

Talking

There's just something about the smell of burning Coleman fuel, fresh perked coffee, and frying bacon in the morning that brings back so many memories.

For brass, I soak the parts in vinegar for not more than two hours. Dry and then buff with 0000 steel wool. For steel parts, media blasting works well. Have also used a boiling bath of citric acid. (Lime kool-aid works well).

Evaporust also is good as it will only attack rust and not the steel.

Many of the parts have been sent to a place that applies Cerakote, a 2000 degree ceramic coating. Goes on very thin. Gun people know how well it works and holds up.

A lot of restoration help, including How-To pictorials, at www.colemancollectorsforum.com and it's sponser at OldColemanParts.com

Thanks Murff, been wishing for something like that website. One of these day I have two lanterns and the stove to overhaul. One red single mantle and one green double mantle lantern. I will also bookmark the parts page. All signed up just waiting for the reply.

YEA!!!

I'm seriously thinking about finding one of these now. Our camper is an '89 and does not have any sort of outdoor kitchen. One of these next to our Blackstone propane table top griddle would make for a nice set up and enable us to cook pretty much anything out side at the campsite.
