Considering upgrading our rigs

HI gang

Well, we have finished our first sales season in the Western Canadian Provinces in our 25ft Jayco Jayflight Baja TT, pulled by our 2018 Toyota Tacoma. And, we have realized a few things. Working/living in a 25 ft trailer for 6 weeks at a time is a challenge re: space and storage. Also ours has a kitchen in the middle which is problematic. We need a work space/office spot. We'd like a kitchen in the back. We need more clothing (hang up ) storage . A bigger shower area. (ours we converted to storage, and use RV facilities to shower/launder). We'd like more stowage area. Of course, seeing it in the showroom you think it is spacious. Then you add in your stuff, and a puppy. Shrinks pretty fast. Now thinking of a 5th wheel. We have heard Grand Design is a good mfr.
Onto the truck. As you know Toyota Tacomas go forever, hold their value etc. This one is a 2018. Awesome vehicle. Rated to tow our TT. HOWEVER, you factor in head winds and your mileage tanks, and your RPMs go sky high and the truck is just not happy pulling our TT. So we are considering going to a F450, and then eventually, upgrading the trailer. Thoughts? REccos? THX

A recent F350 or F450 will pull most of the 5th wheels on the market, outside of the upper end/custom builders. Will def allow you to upgrade when you find the right unit. Really makes it a much more relaxed towing experience.

Ram 3500 & North Point

We have a 2018 Ram 3500 Dually and a 2020 North Point 310 LRS, got both this Spring. We are very happy with both. We feel the North Point is a high end coach. We have 2 FR Cedarcreeks. We are so much happier with our North Point. Look around, some great deals to be had.

Bought a 2020 F350 6.7 earlier this year. I have to imagine it'll tow anything but the largest of toy haulers. 4500lbs of payload. Mileage is still only 12 on good days pulling 11000 lb TT. So much power, it pulls effortlessly, into the wind, up steep grades, etc.

I believe the F450 gets you better axles and suspension for more carrying capacity, but same tow ratings. Much better turning radius than the 250/350.

If it's primarily a towing rig for you, exhaust brake with the diesel is an awesome tool. Ford's 360 cameras are worth the upgrade.
