I agree! My family in S. Florida were jealous of our "winter" weather. 84 degrees in the Ft. Lauderdale area today.

I guess I am to young to get excited about spending xmas in Florida. Headed north in another week for a three week break in the land of lake effect snow to enjoy some downhill skiing, snowmobiling and just relaxing. I sure hope I never get to the age Florida sounds like more fun, LOL. Have fun, beach camping is the best, but only in the summer here.

I am a former resident of MI and, once upon a time, liked winters. I'm betting that someday you will want a warmer and sunnier place to live.

I grew up in Fl and dont think I could ever go back. But that said sitting here with no power, 10" of snow on the ground and it still comin down, transformers popping like popcorn and trees snapping isn't a lot of fun.

We'd love to be heading over to Ft. Lauderdale right now if we could. We're envious. Enjoy!

Getting pretty anxious, we are debating leaving a day sooner. It looks like we'll have 70s all week. Christmas day looks sunny, and I can already see the sky over the surf - Hmm, fish, kayak, hike, bike, maybe a combo with a beach nap.

Not to worry grasshopper, your day will come

I always skied and snowmobiled during the winter. Now I prefer to hear about the snow than spend 4 months dealing with it. We have about 14" on the ground now and it's snowing today. We head for the SW after Xmas whenever the roads are good enough.

We moved from south Florida (where I was born) to West Virginia about 20 years ago. I don't miss the traffic and prices at all!

We still bring the rig down there a couple times a year. It's so nice to get back to West Virginia, after the Florida insanity.

Unfortunately, I just inherited a home in Fort Lauderdale. I HAVE to get rid of it before the taxes are due again... about 8,000.00 a year!

Florida prices are insane!

FeatherFam, Where do you camp in Florida that's right on the beach. We've always been Ft. Lauderdale people - Elmar Drive, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, but never in a motorhome. There's really nowhere in that area to be right on the beach.

KoKo, try Fort Clinch state park, Anastasia state park, and Gamble Rogers state park. That being said, You have to reserve FAR, FAR in advance.

I always wondered how you have to do it staying in parks, wife retires we trying to figure out how to reserve sites as Fl requires you move every two weeks

A couple of things worth considering, IMHO: Yes, reservations here have to be made well in advance, but many parks in the state always hold back a few sites as first come first served. Of course, that's always a roll of the dice. Secondly, a lot of full-time rv'ers take on volunteer duties as campground hosts or other tasks, in which case you get a site for free or at reduced rates.

Our "go to" is St. George Island, but don't tell anyone.

We're not doing Christmas (my wife wants to stay by family), but we go down for 2 weeks around March break.

Our go to is Fort De Soto just south of Tampa. AMAZING park, impossible to get into.

I also have enjoyed Anastasia, and Fort Clinch and many others, but Fort De Soto has been my favorite. Coming from Ontario, it's far enough south to be warm, but also very doable in 2 days driving with the trailer.
