Counting down to our first big trip with the 28BHBE

One week away from our first real trip with the 28BHBE.

We are heading to Nova Scotia on a 3 week camping tour of the Province. I'm estimating anywhere between 5-6,000km (3100 to 3700 miles) of hauling the TT across around NS...

The kids can't wait, I can't wait either... I'm anxious to see how the combo will ride on such long runs...

One thing is sure, we will enjoy the ameneties of the TT!

Will come back in August with a rundown of the ride, pics, fuel consumption and much more!

Have a good Summer everyone, enjoy camping and be safe on the roads!

Have a great time out East. Some great campsites around the province. If you get a chance try the Ovens Natural Park. Beautiful, Ocean wave made Caves to explore and right on the Atlantic. Great home base to head to Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and some of the other nice towns. http://www.ovenspark.com/
Just mentioning it because it's often overlooked, a little off the beaten path, but well worth the visit.

We are leaving on our East Coast trip in 18 days so we will be passing you somewhere along the way. We are stopping in North Bay, Ottawa, Quebec City, Bay of Fundy, Halifax, Cape Breton Island, PEI then make our way back home. As well, the kids are very excited just as we are.
Have a safe, fun trip.

Have a nice trip also....

How long will you be gone for? We're doing 23 nights in total in NS (starting by the Truro-Digby) and going around counterclock finish in CapBreton.

3 years ago we spent 2 weeks in PEI.... and we need to go back to visit more stuff!!!!

Have a fantastic trip! Can't wait to hear how it went, where you stopped and how the costs were. DH just got back recently from NS and was wondering about pulling a trailer out there already for a trip

Just something to be aware of, the Maritimes have been hit hard by a tropical storm. I'm in Fredericton and this is the worst storm that we have experienced in my lifetime. There are still over 66,000 people without power (power restoration could be a week away). Make sure that you gas up well before you need gas as some stations still don't have power, lines can be long, and the next gas station can be 30-40 minutes away especially in rural areas. The Maritimes are beautiful so don't let this ruin your vacation, just plan ahead. Safe travels!

We had the spot almost directly across from where that photo is taken. The stars at night are incredible but not outdone by the daytime views. If you happen to find a space shuttle kite on the beach, it's mine. 5 years ago while flying it for the first time, I let out about 15 ft of line then the wind took hold and away it went... drifting, flying beautifly..out into the Atlantic. I had control for about .08 seconds and it was gone.

Thanks for the advice, I was planning on fuelling up early also but I'll ensure I get gas before I get to the Southern NB portion.

My parents were camping in St.Stephens when Arthur hit NB over the weekend, they said the TT was shaking wildly. And happely no damage for them!

We are only there one night, but that will (hopefully) be a great night!

AND WE ARE BACK!

@ Dagwood... sorry I didn't find your kite.... Actually I was terribly disappointed in The Ovens campground, the worse one I have had in my Nova Scotia trip and it comes in second to last all time campgrounds (Especially at a $69 nightly cost..compared to 3$4-$40 elsewhere!)

First site they gave me, well to get levelled left-right, I would have needed about 3' of wood boards on the passenger side... and forget about open the slide-out, the site was about 10-12ft wide at the max!

They then moved me to a non oceanfront lot (without reimbursing me the $10 difference that these sites costed). I wasn't able to back into it either, cause the guy on the left had parked his TT over the sewer (in fact his sewer hose was running under his TT and connected 2' farther on his passenger side). The campground management found it ok that he was using 2 sites like that...

They then moved me to the back of the field, finally a levelled spot... but the grass hadn't been cut in I would say 2 weeks at least... and the electric breaker kept jumping on us...

Anyways, I would NOT recommend this campground to anyone...

Sorry to hear that Salsa03. I definitely have not experienced that in my two times staying there. The fees include access to the ovens which is the reason for the higher costs I suppose. Otherwise its sad when park management lacks in maintenance or care fornthe facility. I feel bad that you had a bad experience. I'm in Turkey point now...the Provincial park management seems to lack when compared others I have stayed at. Poison Ivy everywhere :-( and the fire pit is half burried in the ground and was full of previous campers waste which was gross. Not.to mention the 90ft run to the power post...

Hope the rest.of your trip was better.
