Even if the ball is protected they wrap the safety chains around the hitch and drag it out that way. If they want it they will take it. I think missing tires is a good start.

The real issue is law enforcement or the epic lack the of. Epic low chance of getting caught and low conviction rate.

Thieves will go for the easiest item with the most value.

If there are two similar trailers, one with locks and one without, guess which one they steal.

I just try to make sure my stuff is either less valuable than others or secured better than others.

Like stated above, it only takes a couple of minutes to steal one of these if you know what you are doing.

Proven Industries

So I have been looking for locks for our trailer way before we bought our Jayco. I just bought a Proven Industries coupler lock. It also allows you to lock up your chains inside the coupler lock. They are not cheap but definitely a piece of mind. Check them out.
