Question Cover your TT roof with a "bra"?

Now that I have your attention...so you know those roof "bras" that Jeeps use when they have their hard tops off?

Well...does anyone cover their TT roof in the 120 degree Phoenix heat to prolong the life of the roof? I know the roof is meant to be coated after a few years, or sooner when needed, but for those who don't live here...the sun KILLS paint and coatings VERY fast around here.

I don't mean a full storage cover, but just a partial cover that fits over the roof with cutouts for the vents, A/C, antenna, and anything else sticking up so you can use the camper like normal. Too many campsites with no shade.

Could be attached easily in my strange mechanical mind, and easily taken down and stored for travel. Is there a product like this? I haven't seen anything in my searches. Time for a trip to Shark Tank?

A second layer spaced 1" or more above the existing roof would provide shading for cooling and also provide sun damage protection imo.

Off to Shark Tank you go!

I’ve seen something like you’re describing at an RV show a couple of years back. I’d describe it as a “tent-like” roof cover. It’s domed shape came from fiberglass ribs arched side to side and straps to hold it in place. I’ve seen one in use at a CG. Looks like a pain to set up and take down and I’ve no idea about durability. But it did seem to shade the roof well and left space around the A/Cs and vents.

I've wanted something like this too. I called it a "bikini top" but basically a cover just like a full over-winter cover that only comes down a couple of feet from the top.

I haven't covered the roof but I did make a cover to protect the front cap. I had a slightly used sunbrella cover from a trailer I sold and cut/sewed it to fit. I sewed in a strap that tightens right behind the cap/roof connection and it has stayed on well so far.
