Crappy Weather Camping Weekend
We do a couple of campouts annually here in the Pacific Northwest if a group of Coleman Collectors. Yes, lanterns and stove type things.
Sadly, we are at a county park in Columbia County Oregon and the weather, well to be go the point, sucks!
But we will do our best to have a good time.

Our first trip was similar Murff. Torrential rain before we arrived put many sites into swamp status, and most of the fire pits had deep water in them. The grass just squished wherever you walked on it. A couple more rainstorms went through for good measure. We still had a good time.
Bare feet in those Croc type shoes worked for keeping the sneakers dry.

Sounds like numerous STARCRAFT or JAYCO rallies. The fairgrounds had to use tractors to get many of the rigs out to the road when it was over. But as you said, we still had fun.

Have always enjoyed caming in the rain - except 2 times.
First time was in a NY Southern Tier CG. Beautiful site, right on the Susquehanna River. OOPS! Woke up, hanging over water to it flooding in a mega heavy rainstorm. It had gotten to the axles by the time I could hook up and pull the camper to safety. Second time - on the Vermont Battenkill - dammitt - same thing. Got the TT pulled out then helped someone haul a big and very wet 5er out of the river. Needless to say we don't park next to rivers/creeks now.

I remember one at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds back in early 20's that the lot we were in was so mired in mud that tractors had to pull the rally attendees trucks with rigs attached out to a paved road. We still had a good time.

Left Yellowstone last week. Rain stopped a day of sightseeing, snow closed the pass on the way out, and had to do the hook-up in the snow. And I still love this....guess the people who accuse me of being insane are correct. Oh yea, then we were in Monument Valley, temp 98 degrees.
