Dealer contact issues

Just looking to blow off some steam here.... After deciding on what trailer to we wanted to replace the last one that was totaled out with, we gave our dealer (same one we bought the first trailer from) money down and signed a purchase contract December 12th to have it ordered. Dealer said it was scheduled to be put into production mid February and delivered mid March. They said they would let me know when Jayco generated a VIN for it. I emailed the dealer in mid February, as I had yet to hear from them. The sales guy I dealt with said he'd talk to the owner, find out where they were at with production and let me know. That's the last time I ever heard from the dealer. I've sent 3 emails since and no response. I ran into the owner of the dealership at a local RV show 3 weeks ago and asked him what he knew. He told me my unit was built and waiting for transport from Indiana. He said he thought about bringing it up a couple of times but the weather wasn't the best so he was going down to pick it up himself in a week or two. He said they had already been invoiced for it and he had paid for it. On the way home I thought to myself, then he should for sure have the VIN for it. I need it to get the financing rolling....so I emailed him to request it. No response. We went to the open house just to look around (and to see if our trailer was there yet). No trailer yet and the owner didn't pay any attention to us. I called the sales guy today and he was with someone else so I had to leave a message to have him call me. Also emailed him and asked him to call me. Nothing. No response. Another Jayco dealer nearby has a 2015 in the same model for a good price. We were told the one we have on order is a 2014. I'm wondering at what point I need to try and ask for my money back and go somewhere else.

That time is now.. Go get your money back. It's April.. After three (3) no contacts, I would of pulled the plug then..

I would think if it was built in Feb then it would be a 2015. I wouldn't think they would go back to building 2014 after they have already started production on 2015. IMHO. They may be trying to find a 2014 at another dealer and not having much luck?

They just called and gave me the VIN. It's indeed a 2014. 10th digit is "E". They said they'd figure out when they were going to bring it up and give me a call back.

3 full days since they said they would get back to me. All day Monday. All day Tuesday. All day Wednesday....and still nothing. I'm trying to stay cool. Trying.

Anything on the paperwork when you left the deposit regarding an estimated delivery date that you can use as leverage with the dealer?

Nothing in the purchase contract about when it would arrive at the dealer. However it was mentioned in emails that it would be here mid March. Thanks for the offer Stingray....I'll keep it in mind if things fall through here.

Caleb, I'm not telling you what to do but this is what I would do...

I would walk into the store and demand my money back now. Your dealer has breached his contract by missing the date.

You are in a position to seek legal course and to ruin the dealer in the public arena if they do not conduct themselves in a professional manner immediately.

You've spent months being a nice guy, it might be time to take a different course.

I told them yesterday that I wanted to pick it up April 25th or May 2nd so they better get it there or give me my money back. They promised it'll be here ready to take delivery on April 25th (2 weeks from now). I'm not happy with the dealers lack of effort to stay in contact with me, but if it's on the way, let's get it bought, get it home, and get this over with so we can get on with it.

Well I hate to leave a thread hanging without a end to the story so.... We finally received notice from the dealer today that our trailer arrived over the weekend at the dealership. We pick it up at one o'clock Friday afternoon. Can't wait to get it home, start playing with stuff, and get familiar with everything that's different from our last TT. We "plan" on keeping this one for ten years, so hopefully we won't have to go through this again any time soon.
