Dealer Lots

We just covered over 7500 miles in the past 5 weeks and every RV dealer that we could see from the highways had lots FULL of RV's. (Except for a Camping World that is being built and will be opening soon).

Lets see, we left Pennsylvania, went thru Ohio to Nebraska, Up to grand Teatons, Yellowstone, Black Hills, Devils Tower, Wall Drug, Sioux Falls, Mall of America, Oshkosh, Mackinac Island and heading back to Pennsylvania.

The Camping World in Henderson, Nevada, has a parking lot full of RV’s; Class A,s C’s, TT’s and 5th wheels. There is hardly any parking spaces left for shopping in the store. Looks like a huge RV Show!

The problem is they are all WAITING FOR REPAIR!!

Sometimes what you see is not what you think it is…….

We noticed the same thing over our 4000 miles the last 6 weeks. And no they are not in for repair.

We also quite a few units out for delivery to dealers.

But how many are sold or were ordered for customers? A dealer near where we are now has 29 units in stock and 17 are marked sold. His other lot has 59 and 36 sold.

There was a Camping World and a Gander RV (same company different names)adjacent to the campground we stayed at in Nashville. Of course we had to go and just take a look. Neither of the 2 places carried Jayco. There were quite a few units on both lots but each one we looked at had some serious issues. The build quality was horrible. One had most but not all the tile backsplash laying on the counter. Multiple pieces of trim were loose and hanging, windows that would not fully close, half the electronics didn't work and the list goes on.

I asked the sales people showing us around how they could show these with a straight face. We were told don't worry we will have the one you choose fixed before you take it home! I bust out laughing. I couldn't believe what we were seeing.
