Digital Thermostat
Now that the Hunter digital thermostats are impossible to find, what's the next alternative. Want an un-programable one similar to Hunter 42999?
Anybody know of one like the Hunter and where to buy it?

Thanks lilbigfoot - - did the research and this looks like the best fit for me. Don't want to mess with the wiring and switch issues others have discussed. An easy swap sounds great even though the price is too high! Just ordered one thru Amazon/RVPlus for $70.39 total but the easy swap will be worth the extra cost.

Pricey I know....but so was the Trailer. Easy install and works well for me.

I replaced my original analog thermostats with the Coleman units within the first couple of months of ownership. Direct replacement and they work great.

I went with the Coleman RV Comfort HC. It was a little more expensive but a 6 wire hookup and I was done in 20 minutes. Works so much better than the old analog thermo. Bought it locally and it was the best 80 bucks I have ever spent on my 5er.

We've done the same on our WhiteHawk and I agree....good money spent....unit seems to regulate temperature much better.

Those are what came in our 5th. The bedroom is AC only while the one in the "big room" controls AC and furnace. They work great.

Say, Dan, when you have the AC on does the fan stay on constantly or does the fan shut off when the AC compressor cycles on and off?

Skip, the fan will shut down as soon as the compressor cycles off, then back on with the compressor. So far, it seems to be working great. Haven't ran the heater other than momentarily to make sure it would come on after the installation of the thermostat.

Thanks for the info. I replaced mine with a digital (not a Coleman) and the fan runs continuously as the compressor cycles on and off. So, I either have it wired incorrectly or need to spend the bucks for the Coleman.

I agree with Dan, replaced mine with Colman digital works Great, wire for wire, very easy should come from OEM has standard item

The noise of the fan coming on and off disturbs our sleep. We leave the fan on low and the constant noise doesn't bother us as much and the temp seems to stay level better. We turn down to freeze your arse off at night and sleep really well. Maybe not good idea if your paying monthly or are on metered elect.

What would you guys suggest as a suitable replacement thermo for those of us that own a hybrid trailer? I would just need the heat portion only since our A/C controls are on the unit.

You can use the same thermo, but you only connect the heat side. The one used in the units with ducted a/c also control the furnace.

I have installed a digital stat from a hvac supply house. I like the Honeywell 5000. It has a 5 min delay. Keeps from short cycling the compressor. You loose the option of high or low fan speed. Same as most of conventional stat in your house

We put in a Honeywell Wifi Therm. Since we leave the camper at the site and have wifi it was a good fit for us. Now when we head up to camp 3 hours away I check the temp and on the hot 90+ days I can turn on the air before I get there so its nice and cool, and vise versa for the fall/winter with heat!
