Digital TV signal

When we was using analog TV signals, it was pretty much raise the antenna and push the power button. With this digital signal, we have to be more precise and aim the antenna the right way. This week at the camp ground, I found a web page the helps find the nearest broadcast signal. The address is http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/dtvmaps/
Itll tell the general direction, I. E. ESE, and also the degrees to turn it to, 120 degrees. Then using the compass on my smart phone I can direct the antenna to the right direction. I got better reception and more channels.

Yes, I have seen that site. Only problem is you have to do it every time you change channels if all the stations are not at the same location.

I figured there would be some flaws in it, but I thought it was better than hit and miss like I had been doing. I also thought someone else would be able to get some use from it. I don't subscribe for satellite service, but prefer to have the TV for weather conditions in case it turns bad.

I have an app on my Android phone call TV Antenna Helper Free. It shows where signals are coming from.

Most TV's now have a signal strength built into them. Once you are on a channel, put your menu to signal strength and rotate your antenna till you get your strongest signal. Then you can re-scan to see how many channels you can receive. Pretty effective and cheap way to do it.
