Dimmer for LED Awning lights
I have a 2015 27DSRL and was wondering if I could install a Dimmer for LED Awning lights. Like the Led lights but would like to dim them for late at night.
Thanks

Dimmer for Led
I found this on Amazon but looks big to install on the 27DSRL panel, and a little pricey.

Try this, several people on the forum have it (including myself) and it works great. Cheap too!

Here's what I used. Pretty simple to install and works well.

This one of a few discussions regarding dimming that LED strip. The parts are cheap, and install is generally pretty easy. I installed it and it works GREAT. This is the way it should've come from the factory.

Straight line switch

Griswald, In that case, you have A LOT more options than most of us. We all had to deal with the switch in the control center being wired into {somewhere else} then back out to the light. That uses a "common ground" so the PWM dimmers won't work with it as a direct switch replacement in the control center. That's why we all went with that RF remote setup; it was the only product that would allow us to wire directly into the light without chasing wires all over the place.
Now, to your original question: Since it's supposedly RF and not IR, it *should* be able to go through most walls. With that being said, mine has virtually no range; maybe like 6 ft, and that's in the open, so I don't know what all the signal will go through. It does work from inside with the door closed (IIRC, I usually have the door open, but I think it worked when I tested it; I can test it tonight when I get home if I remember), and my receiver module is right outside the door, so I would think it would work.
These switches are SUPER cheap though, so if you wire it in and it doesn't work quite right, you're not out a lot of $$. I like the remote setup because the dimmer module is super small whereas many of the other "rheostat" type switches are a big box that's hard to find a place to fit. (BTW, if you open those boxes up, they are a whole lot of empty space with a little silicone wafer for the "brains"; go figure that...)

Thanks
Thanks for quick reply CB... I had not considered this idea before reading the post, but I really like it. My next door neighbour actually owns a company installing LED lights in campers... Gonna go have a chat and see what product he carries 😃

No problem! I had been toying with the idea for a LONG time. I even bought one of the "box" dimmers I mentioned above. I tried every which way to get it to work and then gave up. Then I found out about PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and discovered that's why I couldn't just swap the wall switch for a dimmer
I think it was Dustygeek that did this mod first IIRC, and the next day I bought the remote switch. About a week later I had it installed and I'm VERY happy with the results. It's nice to have such a cheap/simple install that allows me to just turn on the step light if I want to, or dim the awning light to whatever level I need/want.
Having a neighbor proficient in these things is a NICE resource. I bet he can get you something better than the cheap Chinese switches the rest of us have been using! I'd be interested in what he says about this.

I tested last night when I got home, and from inside the trailer, the module still received the signal with the door closed. In fact, it had about the same range either way.

Good to know, thanks! Have not seen the neighbour kicking around yet, but will keep you posted with his reply.
