Do you ever......
Do you ever look at the other combos traveling towards you or passing you to see what type of TV, TT and tow hitch they have?!? Or is it just me? I enjoy checking out other owners and their TT's while driving. Do you ever?

Always. It's like buying a new car... you feel great cause you rarely seen them until you've signed the dotted line and now you suddenly notice every second Driver on the road owns the same one.
Currently I'm looking mostly at Trucks in general to see if I notice a pattern in terms of which make is preferred by contractors and business in general.

Always looking at other rigs while traveling. Usually Im looking to see what kind of strange way they tie their accessories to their camper (bikes, boats, ect...ect...ect). It surprises me how many have no idea about what is going on behind them. Last year, I was headed north on I27 in MI and a truck and 5r with a big slide out were heading south on the freeway, the 5r had a blown tire on drivers (road) side, not flat, but there was only a small amount of rubber left on the rim. Worse part is they were passing traffic (Michigan highway speed limit is 70mph) so I have to assume they were flying and had no idea the tire was gone...

Yep! I see that all the time, too! Three things about your story stand out to me: #1- The tire probably blew because the driver was exceeding the max. tire speed rating of 65 m.p.h.; #2 - Michigan's speed limit for RV's is the same as for semi's - 65 m.p.h.; #3 - The driver was oblivious to what was going on with his rig! Must have been from one of the wealthy Detroit-area suburbs, where they don't have to obey the same rules & laws the rest of us peons do!
Dagwood's right, too! I never saw an Eagle TT (or 5th Wheel) until I bought one. Now, I see them all the time. It kind of validates your buying decision.
Another thing I notice a lot is the number of 5th wheels that ride so "nose high" that the front wheels are barely touching the ground, and the back bumper is barely clearing it. Don't know if that makes a difference on a 5'er, but I'd think it would get a little squirrely - kind of like a TT with too little tongue weight. I'd also think the back tires would tend to wear prematurely. Maybe some of you 5th wheel owners can chime in. (Not to distract from the subject of the thread)

Got DW doing it too. She complained when we first bought our trailer that she had never seen any Jaycos on the road. I had told her that we bought one of, if not the, best selling brand of trailer (Jay Flight). She asked me "then why don't we ever see them out on the road?" So I began pointing them out to her. Now we constantly look for other RVs on the road and discuss their rigs, whether we're towing or not.

And to top it off, my DW says to me the other day that she was checking out a TT and TV combo on the road. Noticed they didn't have a WD hitch and commented on it to me. SCORE....she is getting excited about the 2015 camping season too!!!!!

The thing that really gets my attention when checking out other rigs is the ones that have no sign of tow mirrors on the TV. They can't possibly see behind them or even to the side if they wanted to pull out to pass. Don't know how they manage, especially when backing up. No sign or any cameras either.

I will count the number of rigs going the opposite way and then see if the ones going my way total more or less. Just a fun game to plan while traveling.

Huh? Wouldn't the ones going opposite direction ALWAYS be more?
You see every one of them. The ones going your way you only see if they pass you or are directly in front or behind you.
Or am I missing something?

Always and if we're on a 2 lane, I wave just like we do when traveling on the Motorcycle. Drove I80 today from the Quad Cities and headed up to W Michigan - lost count on the number of west bound rigs - mostly new deliveries but many snowbirds comming back for the summer.

I look at the other set ups all the time, I don't pay much attention to the hitch set up..I think its too much of a distraction while driving to get that detailed. Now when I am not driving I look at the whole set up
