Injectors

For you diesel guys in this forum, there is a place with decent prices on OE and reman Cummins parts: Geno’s Garage https://www.genosgarage.com . I was in the automotive field for a while and I heard their name from NC to CA. I met one gents at a trade show who worked there and he shared plenty of information concerning Ram Diesels (I was considering one at the time).

They used to offer parts for Fords also and I got some stuff for my truck. A few years they went to Ram only parts and accessories.

Trade for Ford 6.7

Cummins is great engine, so is Ford 6.7. Difference is, Ford has more torque/HP and Ford is much better vehicle overall IMHO. Been dealing with the Ford 6.7 for years in ambulances, no issues with 100's k mileage overall.

I would love a diesel p/u but after driving semi's for 20 years I know what can go wrong and the money involved to correct.
My personal belief has always been whether it's a gas or diesel engine always buy the best fuel you can find. Buy from a busy station/fuel stop. Keep fuel filters changed and never fuel when a transport is unloading at the fuel station.

My Chevy kept throwing codes too. $85.00 to diagnose the problem and they told me it was the short term memory in the computer. Did not effect the engine operation, soooo I bought a code reader and when the trouble light comes on I check it and reset it myself.
Now that does not help you with your screwy dealer but stop throwing money at it. Right now with all your bills in hand go see the service manager and have him explain what is going on... When I did that not only did I get satisfaction from him he now comes out to greet me anytime he sees me in the shop.

Ram 2500 2011.5 ho ctd

Sounds like the exact same problem I had. Truck kept throwing codes dealing with low pressure on the fuel rail. My dealer finally told me I needed six injectors for a total of $6000. I did not believe that all six would go bad at once and the truck had 79000 miles on it. The truck ran fine but from what research I did I knew I had to do something. When I bought the truck (used) I was talked into an extended warranty which I felt was a ripoff but did it anyway. Turns out the warranty covered the whole bill except for $100 deductible. That was 50000 miles ago and I’ve never had another problem or code. Without that warranty I would have done what you are talking about doing. That truck would have been a goner. I love the truck and pulls my 26BHW like nothing is back there.

Guys - There's a BIG difference between the older diesels (pre-DPF) and the current vintage. Before you go buying a new diesel, take a close look at how you're using it. The new ones require DEF and the Diesel Particulate Filter has to go into a regen mode every so often (about 1 time per tank of fuel is what I've heard). If you're using the truck for a lot of short trips, you're much better off going with a gas unit, save the initial cost and potential expensive repair cost to offset the lower fuel mileage.
