Dodge Ram Recall

All you Dodge owners beware. Air bag actuator recall on 2003-2007 Dodge Rams. You have probably been reading or hearing about this recall on the news stories. I received my notice this past week and was told today parts are unavailable for the fix. Talking with Chrysler now on the phone and they say they are available. Scheduling a fix now. Probably want be until after my Christmas New year's trip.
Bummer

Thanks for the heads up. Haven't received anything from Chrysler, so I did the VIN # recall search on the NHTSA website and my '05 3500 is a 'winner'! Called a local Dodge dealership, service guy said they have no replacement actuators and have received no official direction from Chrysler yet. Was instructed to do the proverbial 'wait for a letter' routine.

Just went through this with our daughter's 2004 Corolla............twice!

I just went and looked up my 2007 Dakota, and they placed a recall (Recall # 104311 - AirBags) on the airbags too. Recall date is June 20, 2014 and they expect the begin recall notification mid December.

I received the Chrysler recall notice today for my '05. Called another local Dodge dealer, was told they will not have replacement actuators in until after Jan. 25th, call back and schedule appointment at that time.

And yes, this recall is limited to trucks/cars orginally sold or currently registered in Hawaii, Florida, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands.

And, once again, between the Federal Government and Chrysler, you're left to wonder if your vehicle is part of the recall or not. The NHTSA website search by VIN # indicates my truck is part of the recall, but references only the passenger side airbag. The Chrysler recall notice states driver side and/or passenger airbag, but the MY vehicles referenced would seem to NOT include 2005 Ram 3500's. Oh well, Chrysler sent me the notices, let the dealer figure it out.............
