Don't be fooled

That battery in your smoke detector isn't chirping to tell you to replace it?

It may have been chirping all winter long in storage, and now its dead.

Silence can be deadly. Test and/or replace!

Replaced my battery a few days ago, the old one would barely chirp! I believe the batteries die quicker over the Winter in a cold trailer....

I try to bring everything with a battery in it inside for the winter. I pull the smoke detector down and it is the first thing that goes back up, and tested, when the TT comes out of storage. 9 volt batteries are cheap life insurance in case of a fire.

Our TT is parked in the driveway and I heard it chirping away from inside the house in the fall! I pulled the battery and left the lid dangling so I won't forget to replace it.

I change mine at the start up of each season and write the date I changed it on the battery.

I've found that the smoke detector does a really good job of warning me that I am cooking bacon.

We pull the batteries each October when we close it up and install new in the spring. By pulling then we don't get corroded contacts from the old batteries.
