Door steps

The door steps did not work when opening my 27 Alante.
I checked house batteries which were powered up ok.
The engine battery was dead for some reason so I started gen set and power boost the start main engine.
The steps started working.
Bottom line don’t the steps power from house batteries?

No, the chassis so you can get in and out without turning on the battery disconnect.

My steps work if the house battery is on (solenoid engaged). They do not work if the house battery is off. They work if the house battery is off, but I turn the ignition to on (or start the RV).

I have a 2005 Jayco class C.
