Local Walmart's quit giving pre-employment drug screening, they couldn't find enough employees. Now they drug test if the think there is an issue. Probably came down from corporate and is now nation wide practice. Ask your local manager.

Just as big an issue is younger people showing up. As a retired guy I enjoy keeping busy. For the last three holiday seasons I took a job at a Big Box outlet. As a seasonal employee I was getting 40 hours (much more than I wanted) while the full timers were, in most cases, getting less than I was. I asked why to my boss and he said you show up.. the others, obviously all younger than I am, they typically missed at least one day a week. As I told them the bar today is so low, all you need to do to be a super start is to show up. And this is a company starting employees at $13 a hour, and you can easily move up to $21 an hour part time. People don't want to work, even on sundays when you make time and a half. From those I have spoken to this is in every industry today, getting employees is an issue and then getting an employee to show up is another issue. Any wonder companies go over seas where people actually show up to work.

I'll state let's keep this thread clean and then post that most of the country would tell us the solution is to legalize.

If it's a problem make it legal? I won't comment further

And people wonder why they have issues with new RVs. I saw it coming as the articles poured out about record sales, increased production, and the lack of employees. Couldn't give me a rig built right now. I follow the fine details of the industry and order or buy at strategic times. Now isn't the time if you want a less than problematic rig.

When able-bodied people can sit flat on their asses and get monthly checks from the federal government, those with no work ethic lose the desire to put in an honest day's work.

Put an end to the ridiculous welfare state, and most of these problems would disappear overnight.

Heck I've been out of work since March after 20 years offshore, and I still stay working my tail off at odd jobs. Just my mentality and the way I was raised. Not all think that way.
