Then avoid Denver. Last time (several years ago) I was passing thru and following signage (forgot the GPS. Since then have TV with built in GPS), it led me out to the toll road. Didn't know until you were trapped and not able to get off. No toll gates open and an unexpectedly high toll bill arrived via mail.

To be honest, I now intentionally avoided buying anything in the Denver Metro when passing thru since then, and have made sure I have my GPS set to "AVOID TOLL ROADS"! And I normally make a point of staying as far away from Denver as possible. One trip it allowed us to watch Union Pacific's No, 844 Steam Locomotive heading up a grade as it left a passenger station, heading back to Cheyenne, WY. Would really like to get another chance to see her run and maybe ride.

And horrific traffic jams. Never never Seattle or LA.. Even OK City is a nightmare.
It is actually quite easy to circumvent Boston and NY and the latter often has easy moving traffic. Not always.

Don't like DC at all so although we live nine miles from I 95 there is a big part of the middle of it we dont use from the MA-NH line all the way to the intersection of 26 in SC.

Curiously Maine probably has the highest mileage of toll roads. There is 109 miles of Turnpike and hundreds of miles of logging roads. Yes they are toll roads. EZ Pass wont work.. You get out and go in to the toll booth and fork over cash... But its wonderful camping. No traffic per se except the logging trucks with 125K tons aboard using the center of the road at 45 mph.

I'm not doubting you. I've just never thought about it before you mentioned it.

I did it, too. I received violations because it didn't get my tag and they couldn't correlate the trailer plate back to my account to charge me.

Did you register your trailer plate through the PA EZ Pass site or did you call?

Just on the website. If I remember correctly, I did it as I was paying the violations to make it even and just pay the actual toll and not the fines. But still, all through the web portal.

I've got the EZ pass site up on another tab as we speak. What did you list as vehicle make? Jayco?

Thanks. I'll put mine in. I guess I've just been lucky to never have been sent a violation.

Yes, You are supposed to list license plates of all vehicles using the EZ-Pass.

Just as a head's up. Transponders bought from State of North Carolina work (according to NC) on North Carolina tolls, Sun Pass and Peach State toll roads, plus all the toll roads in the E-Z Pass system (from Virginia to Maine to Illinois).

I'm looking into getting 2 transponders (one for car and one for truck) ($7.40 each).

I’m in New York. I have 2 transponders, one for towing and the other not.

I called them up and ordered it by phone. They sent me a blue one with a sticker on it that says, use while towing.

I use just 1 EZ Pass for the car, car (Toyota) the Expedition and the trailer when towing.

No treason to buy more than one.

I live in VT and got one from NH. When I had an issue while towing, they told me to sign on and add the trailer to the account. No problems since all around the US.

Note that isnt true for EZ Pass transponders or Sun Pass transponders. Us northern folks cannot use Ez Pass in Georgia or Florida and the opposite is also true.

We travel mostly the east coast, FL to PA, and we tow with our class C. My wife called EZpass in NY and was able to get a special tow EZpass. It's blue in color. We were told that we can use it when we don't tow and it knows to charge us if we do. So far in the past 3 years it has worked as they stated.

not sure if it works in any other states except the ones we traveled.

We have ez pass and we listed the plates of our truck and trailer. Ez pass counts axles as we pass thru.

I'm in DE also. One transponder that stays in my truck.

I always go through the EZ pass or express lanes. Been from Maine to Florida. It's that damn toll in MD (95N) $26 a pop and the cost of the tolls in NY that get me mad. The tolls have always been calculated correctly.

EZ Pass

I have two ez pass transponders issued by New York State. One is for use when traveling without my 5th wheel the other I use when pulling. I called ez pass customer service explained that I would be pulling a 5th wheel and they sent the second transponder. Works fine no issues to date other than ez pass does not work in Florida ugh!
