Edge of your Roof vs. Side of your RV
I have to back Harvey the RV into a pretty tight space on the side of my house. Usually, this is from an angle. The RV of course is taller than the corner of the roof of the house where I park. The roof juts out
Until now, I have been able to back into the spot without scrapping the RV against the edge of the roof, but I know that the day is coming. So the question is, what can I put on that edge of the roof that could be used to prevent a nasty scrap on Harvey? (As you can see, I get about 2 inches of clearance everytime I back into place.) I was toying with the idea of using one of those swimming pool noodles and cutting it down and attaching it to the corner of the roof , but I thought maybe this community would have a better solution. (Buying a new house is not a solution BTW... )
What would you do to keep the scrape form happening? (By the way, I kept rotating this image and it still uploaded sideways. Sorry)

That is why I worry! My neighbors think I am crazy...but if I don't back in like that, I stick out onto the sidewalk.

If that was my only option for parking I'd cut back the roof of the house.
It looks like you could gain at least 6" and you really need it!
Talk to a contractor and see what they say. I'm sure you could undo any changes made pretty easy too.

Oh, correct me if I'm wrong but in the pic it looks to me you have made contact already?
The pic shows what looks like a scratch to the right of the center of the pic.
Just a small golf ball sized rock or something under the tire while backing up that close would cause the trailer to tip to the side enough to hit.
The area you're backing up over must be nice and smooth?

A section of old fire hose wrapped around roof edge and tacked in place would help protect your RV. Check with your local fire department, they probably have some damaged hose lying around. My dad used some on our boat dock and it was still there after 20 years.

Prayer may be your only hope, and a good spotter!
I think a fire hose or pool noodle will only reduce your clearance and a heavy wind could rock it into the fascia.
Could you head in instead of backing in?

You have exactly the same issue that I have, although I can back my trailer in with my truck( big city owned tree makes it difficult at the street end of my RV parking spot) I use my motorized trailer dolly from www.parkit360.ca to move my trailer into that spot when I park it there for the off season. It was the cheapest solution for me due to the Off season RV storage bylaws that do not allow me to park it beside my driveway..

Yes, it happened yesterday, so that is why I posted..I park on a non level gravel side yard.
I am hoping to avoid another scratch and even worse, a gouge!

What is the ground like that you are parking on? Can you slope it away from the house and tilt the trailer a little bit away from the house?

What about using duct tape on the corner of the gutter?

This is a great suggestion. You can easily gain 4" of clearance by a lot of manual elbow grease applied to a rake.

First picture I've seen on here that literally made me pucker.
I have to rip out 2 trees, a chicken coop and and regrade my side yard so I don't experience that. Beats paying 60 bucks a month for the next 30 years I guess.
