Usually open the awning until the flap on roller hangs vertically. There does not seem to be a stop that prevents the awning from rolling back up backwards. Reason for question what would happen if you continued to roll awning so the bottom of the awning fabric would be on the outside of the roller so you could brush the bottom as it sits against the roller for more fabric support. Would this damage the awning?? You could inch it in several inches at a time and have a good support since the fabric would be against the roller. Can this be done, or am I missing something.
Wondering if anyone has ever tried this, can it be done, would you damage awning by trying this???

I believe the "drum" rolls up counterclockwise (looking from the front), so I wouldn't think that was possible.

My first question would be whether you have enough "stuff" on the bottom of your awning to justify trying that?

Also, you would most certainly not want to leave it that way because then it would collect water while it was rolled up.

You can fully retract the awning in either direction. I roll mine as Camper_Bob mentions, counter clockwise if looking down the awning drum from the front of the trailer. I roll the way I do so there isn't a valley between the awning roll and TT side wall when in storge that could collect water.

At CG i have seen several folks roll it opposite of mine. They don't see to have any issues.

I have temporary done exactly what you are proposing. Lowered both sides all the way down, then had DW retract awning a few inches at a time to I could wipe off the inside (bottom) of the awning fabric.

If rolling up the awning backwards works, that certainly beats standing underneath it with a long handled brush getting soaked while you are trying to clean the underside of that awning.
